Senior Farewell: Hunter Meshanic

Hunter Meshanic '21 by Hunter Meshanic '21

The KO News has been fortunate to have senior Hunter Meshanic on the staff. As a sophomore, Hunter took the journalism elective on a whim, simply to fill out his schedule, but since then, he has gained a newfound passion for writing for the KO News, specifically for the sports section.

Hunter has an extensive background in sports, as he is the captain of both the varsity soccer and basketball teams and plans on joining the track team this spring. His talent, however, is not just limited to athletics. With his keen insight and passion, Hunter has been a vital part of the sports section, writing myriad articles detailing athletic recaps and updates. His favorite articles, however, are the senior spotlights. “Everyone I interview also has such passion for their sport,” Hunter said. “In a way, it’s very inspiring.”

Hunter is thankful for his time on the News, as he has learned much about the community as well as about himself as a writer. “One of the main things I’ve taken away from my time at the News is to write quickly and efficiently,” Hunter said,” but, more importantly, I learned to communicate effectively and work to solve problems as a group as a result of my experience.”

Hunter says he’ll miss the connections he has made with the staff as well as the silly antics of the hectic news days. He will be dearly missed in the sports department and on the paper as a whole, and we all wish him the best of luck in college and beyond!
