The New and Unfamiliar: Strength and Conditioning

During the pandemic, sports have restricted the number of students allowed to play. So, to spread students out, KO added a new sports option: Strength and Conditioning.

Strength and Conditioning is a sport that was usually only available to Upper School students, but due to the pandemic, they have now opened it up to the Middle School.

Students had varying motivations for signing up for this newly added sport, one reason being because it was new and different from what they were used to. “I thought to do Strength and Conditioning because I didn’t want to do a winter sport,” eighth-grader Dominic Trolio said, “and because I have known Coach Rad for some time.”

Students had different opinions about what was the best aspect about Strength and Conditioning. “My favorite part is that you can exercise how you want,” sixth-grader Marco Ramirez said, “like when you go to the machine room, you can pick and choose between many machines.”

However, due to the pandemic, there were certain limitations surrounding the sport. “I think the hardest thing is to wear my mask all the time, which seems like a minor inconvenience,” English teacher Anastasia Quinn said. “It’s also kind of a shame we can’t go everyday, but we can still do it at home.”

Even though everyone has their different opinions on the sport, almost everyone can agree that it should be continued next year for Middle School students.
