With a packed 18-game schedule, the Kingswood Oxford boys varsity soccer team looks to take full advantage of their season. Off to a strong start so far, the team looks to continue their undefeated season.

This season, the team has several goals that they want to accomplish before their time on the field comes to a close. “My personal goal is to be All-NEPSAC,”  senior center-back Co-captain Max Sams said. For the team as a whole, Sams  hopes that individually all of the players know that they have the potential to grow and form a strong team connection.

Sams loves being part of the soccer team and really enjoys getting to be a part of a competitive sport which has different individual battles each and every game.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, the soccer team played Greenwich Country Day and started off the season with a bang, winning 4-2. Then, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, the team went on to play Canterbury School and won again with a score of 6-2. On Saturday, Sept. 24, the soccer team played Cheshire Academy and had a successful win with a score of 6-2. During the game, goals were scored by Michael Bzowyckyj ’24, Grant Daigle ’24, Aiden Ladewig ’23, Kaden Rodriguez ’25, Sams, Brandon Tavares ’26 and an own goal. Clearly, the hard work put into practices is paying off for the soccer team.

Sams loves being part of the soccer team and really enjoys getting to be a part of a competitive sport which has different individual battles each and every game. Senior Raj Patel agrees with Sams. “KO’s soccer team is a family on and off the field, so we win and lose as a team,” Raj said. “Our wins have been successful through a collective effort that shows that all of our hard work is paying off.”

Sams is proud of the many younger players on the team, showing that is a lot of growth to occur in the future. Sams hopes that these younger players will step up and truly believe in their potential.

The players place great emphasis on team chemistry since they feel that the better the chemistry, the better they perform. The team will face more tough opponents as the season goes on, but they are more than capable of rising to the occasion. The boys will surely keep up their hard effort and we look forward to their many more successes this season.
