Fashionista of the Month: Ida Chapman

Junior Ida Chapman was nominated Fashionista of the Month due to her chic and well-liked style. Ida’s outfit inspiration stems from social media, Pinterest, or other fashion websites, demonstrating the time and effort she puts into curating her daily outfits.

Ida would describe her style as unexceptional in society, but a stand-out in our Kingswood Oxford school community. “People wouldn’t normally wear certain outfits that I wear to KO,” Ida said, “but I don’t think the outfits I’m wearing are revolutionary on a whole fashion sense.” Her style stems from trends she notices in areas like New York or Paris. “I can really appreciate the way they dress,” she explained.

While Ida’s style has gone through some changes over the years, including an emo/grunge phase in middle school, she now shops at stores such as Reformation, Artizia, Zara, and Steve Madden for shoes, and once in a while, she thrifts at Depop to find unique clothes.

When asked what she thinks makes an outfit, Ida explains how her boots make her outfits more interesting, as they elevate “any simple outfit.” She started wearing boots once she got to high school, and they’ve been a favorite of hers since. Once it gets cold, warmth is once in a while sacrificed for a stylish outfit. Ida believes that “for the most part, a fun jacket or jeans is just as fun as a skirt.”

Ida never pulls out her outfits the night before school, but she often plans out her outfits by brainstorming and piecing them together in her head or while scrolling on social media.

Ida avoids repeating outfits, although she will often repeat the same staples or layering basics she owns. “I try not to wear the same exact outfit twice, at least in the same few months or so,” Ida stated.

Popular trends that Ida sees and enjoys, besides her frequent love of boots, are ballet flats, low-rise jeans, and brown jackets for fall. She also mentioned how she finds skinny jeans unpleasant, along with many other people on the internet in 2025.

When Ida was asked why she thinks she was voted Fashionista of the Month by her KO News classmates, she had to reflect. “I try with my outfits for school,” she remarked.“I also think that people compliment my boots or my outfits, so I’ve kind of gotten a reputation for those things, so I would say that’s maybe why I got this.” Ida explained that she’s thrilled to be nominated, as this title showcases her genuine love for fashion, clothes, and styling.
