Senior Goodbye Profiles – Gabby Post

Transferring schools as a junior isn’t easy, but senior Associate Editor for Arts and Features Gabby Post used journalism and the KO News as a way to meet her community.

Gabby took journalism during the fall of her junior year, then joined the paper in the spring because she felt writing and interviewing connected her to the community. “Since I was new my junior year,” Gabby said, “I just thought it’d be a good way to interact with the KO community. Through that class, I met new people. In my first article, I interviewed Mrs. Loeb, so it felt like meeting all the people.”

Gabby reflected on her time on the newspaper with joy surrounding Sunday News Days. “News Days were my favorite,” Gabby said. “I love News Day, but I don’t like InDesign. It’s a hurdle that you do together. There’s really some bonding over how hard InDesign can be to use. My favorite was our last News Day after the musical, and everyone was half asleep, and we’re just groggy, eating bagels.”

Gabby brought up one article in particular that stands out to her. “My favorite article would have to be from journalism,” Gabby said. “I wrote an opinion piece last January about the incoming Trump administration. I was so mad, but it was very evidence-based, and I was proud of myself because it wasn’t just my opinion, but I supported it.”

Thank you, Gabby, for your energy and enthusiasm that you brought to the KO News. We will miss you, but wish you luck on all future endeavors!
