This past year, one of the most versatile pants made its comeback, the low-rise jean. Most people recognize low-rise jeans from the early 2000s with stars such as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan famously rocking the casual trouser on red carpets. Junior Ava Cashman’s favorite trend of 2022 was the comeback of low-rise jeans. “For so many years, I had always stuck to wearing high-waisted pants, but the new low-rise trend was exciting to try out and became a big part of my style last year,” she said.
In terms of shoes, platforms had a large comeback through both boots and heels. Heels are always in trend since they can be styled any way, but when you add a pop of color and an extra three-inch platform to them, they are sure to be noticed. These were also featured through many fashion shows during Milan’s fashion week, where platforms were styled both dressy and more casually.
In terms of accessories, gold jewelry such as chain necklaces and big hoop earrings were definitely statement pieces for many during both the summer and fall. Gold jewelry is being featured through medallion necklaces, pearl earrings, and birthstone rings through designers such as Kendra Scott.
Finally one of the most popular trends of 2022 that was seen through weddings, business wear, pajamas, and much more was the use of silk and satin. At the beginning of this year, it was the basic satin dresses, which then moved into the wedding styles and became very popular for bridesmaids, as well as those at the wedding party. Afterward, people began noticing the benefits that silk and satin have for your hair, which turned them onto buying pillowcases and pajamas. Overall, 2022 was most definitely a very successful year for fashion trends as it left plenty of room for people to find new ways to express themselves.
Now, this brings us to 2023. The new year surely started off with a bang with the Golden Globes and the extravagant outfits seen there. But, for those of us who aren’t going to the red carpet this year, here are some of the fashion trends that are predicted to be seen in 2023.
