The lights were bright, cards were dealt, and chips were stacked high at this year’s casino-themed junior Prom. On Saturday, April 5, the KO junior class gathered at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield for a night of casino games, dancing, food, and raffles.
Although it was rainy, it didn’t stop the Wyverns from having the time of their lives and making the most of every moment. Due to the weather, the night began with pictures inside Alumni Hall to capture the decked-out Wyverns in their dresses and tuxedos. Following the pictures, they headed out to Tumble Brook with fun casino games waiting for them upon arrival. At Tumble Brook, it was blackjack, poker, and roulette galore!
There were equipped dealers at each game to serve as a resource to students who were experienced in casino games, or students who tried them out for the first time. “I didn’t really know what to expect going into prom or any of the games because I hadn’t played them before, but I was pleasantly surprised at how fun they were,” junior Samaria Gonzalez said. “It was nice to learn something new and be with my friends while doing so.”
In addition to the casino games, the night also included lots of dancing and good food, and drinks. There was a very roomy dance floor and a fantastic DJ to ensure the Wyverns had ample space to do the Cotton Eyed Joe, the Wobble, and other classic line dances. When it was time for food, there were many great options. The Class of 2026 enjoyed various dining options, including burgers, french fries, salad, and even a taco bar. There were also various drink options, including fun mocktails that students got to choose from. And of course, what’s dinner without dessert? The cookies, brownies, and other great treats were a hit among the junior class, especially after all the dancing.
Throughout the night, during the various casino games, students collected raffle tickets in hopes that they might win big at the end of the night in the raffle. It is safe to say that many students did win big. Raffle prizes included a wide variety of candy, trinkets, and even gift cards to places KO students consider staples like Hartford Baking Company, Whole Foods, Playa Bowls, and more. It was truly a fun event where everyone was a winner and the perfect ending to a fun night that will be remembered by the Class of 2026 for years to come.
A huge thank you to the Class of 2026 Parent Association for planning such a memorable night for the junior class. The time spent, attention to detail, and meticulous planning don’t go unnoticed! Another thank you to Form Five Dean Matt Waldman and all the chaperones for volunteering their time and accompanying the juniors at such a special event.
