The topic of Fantasy Football has been swarming classrooms at KO recently. This program is a competitive league with other people in which one selects a team from players in the NFL and earns points from the actual performance of the players.
Not only do KO students participate in their own leagues, but teachers also compete with their friends outside of school.
History teacher Mr. Andy Krugman is known as a Fantasy Football fanatic in the Middle School. “I love the social and competitive element of it,” Mr. Krugman sad. “The banter between all the people in our league is by far my favorite part. In fact, my phone is often buzzing during class when someone in my league wants to talk about their team.”
Mr. Krugman also enjoys talking about Fantasy Football with his students. “I think it gives something else for kids to connect with you about. If you have a number of students who are doing Fantasy Football, you can actually have a conversation that isn’t ‘How are you doing in my class?’ It’s fun to see the kids be a part of it and how they are doing in their leagues,” Mr. Krugman said.
Students like eighth-grader Guru Anand become very competitive with one another and spend a lot of time on Fantasy Football. “I am very dedicated, I spend at least three to four hours a day on Fantasy Football,” Guru said.
Eighth-grader Graham Wiggenhauser is also active with Fantasy Football. When asked to give advice to new people joining a Fantasy Football league, Graham said, “Be prepared for the draft, don’t do too much trading, and have a good balance of competitiveness and fun.”
