Feb. 3 marked KO’s shift from the “Asynchronous Wednesday” to the “Remote Wednesday” schedule. Before the shift, Wednesdays used to be days off for students to meet with teachers online.
Many students feel that the new schedule is a good thing, but some people feel like it is a bad thing.
History teacher and eighth-grade advisor Peter Burdge said, “I like the new schedule because it allows me to see my students even more than last Wednesday’s, but it is weird having 50 minute classes.”
Mr. Burdge then talks about how the online classes could get a little tiring so having breaks helps a lot. “Something I wish was the same with the asynchronous would be if we had the same amount of breaks.”
Eighth-grader Sandy Cloud said, “I don’t like the new asynchronous, I don’t like how I have to have school and meet with teachers online on the same day, it should be one or the other.” However, Sandy does like how the classes start at 9am instead of 8am.
Sandy thinks that the school year so far has been very different due to wearing masks and the new protocols.
Sixth-grader Bryson Carter, an online student, has a few opinions on the new asynchronous as well. “I like the new asynchronous, it gives me and other online students a chance to talk to everyone more because we are all online.”
Bryson wishes he could go to school like he used too. He says, “It’s hard grasping the idea of not coming back to school.”
Each of these members of the KO community thinks that the new asynchronous is different; however, they all have their likes and dislikes on it as well.
