There are six trim levels offered for the F-250 in 2022. For this article, I will be comparing the crew cab (four full-sized doors) with the 6.5-foot bed because that is the most common configuration. It should be known that all of these models also are available in the regular (two full-sized doors) and supercab (two full-sized doors and 2 half-sized doors) with an 8-foot bed as well.
The XL is the base model that starts at $38,790. For only $1,825, you can add the STX package that adds chrome wheels and chrome accents all over the truck, specifically the grill. This is a great option because it looks similar to the higher-trim-level trucks; the only downside is that its interior is lacking, with a super disappointing cloth seat color and a very simple center console. One unique feature of these lower-trim level trucks is that there are three seats in the front so you can fit six people if you need to. This truck comes standard with the 6.2L V8 gas engine. This engine has significantly less power than both the 7.3L gas engine, which costs $2,045 more, and the 6.7L diesel engine, which costs $10,495 more.
The XLT starts at $44,335. It still only has cloth seats and the three seats in the front. However, the center console is bigger and has a touch screen. It also has the same 6.2L gas V8 engine, with the same engine upgrades available as the previous trim levels. This level offers blind-spot detection, automatic high beams, and automatic braking. You can also add the black appearance package for $2,630, which includes black running boards, black rims, black front and rear bumpers, a black grille, black fenders, and led lights all around.
The Lariat starts at $50,640. This is the first trim level that includes leather seats, a Bang and Olofson 10-speaker system, as well as a 12-inch touchscreen. The black appearance package is still available for this model. Also offered is a Lariat Sport Appearance Package that includes body-color bumpers, exterior mirrors, and grille, as well as a chrome exhaust tip and black platform running boards. It also has the same 6.2L gas V8 engine with the same engine upgrades available as the previous trim levels. One option for this level is the Tremor Off-Road Package for $3,975, which includes lots of exciting features: 35” off-road tires, 18” rims, lane-keeping alert, higher front springs, rear locking differential, performance shocks, offroad running boards, skid plates, rock crawl mode, trail control mode, and eye-catching decals. This package really changes the look of the truck.
The King Ranch starts at $63,300. This trim level includes trailer backup assist, heated and cooled seats, unique King Ranch leather, and the iconic King Ranch two-tone paint. I personally do not like the look of the two-tone paint or the unique leather interior, so I’m not very interested in this model. This trim level also has the option to add the Tremor Off-Road Package.
The Platinum starts at $66,615. This trim level includes adaptive cruise control, updated led lights, power running boards, platinum badges, red leather options for no extra charge, heated rear seats, and a very nice interior. It also has the same 6.2L gas V8 engine, with the same engine upgrades available as the previous trim levels. This model again has the option to add the Tremor Off-Road Package.
The Limited starts at $85,335. This trim level includes a beautiful two-tone interior, as well as adaptive steering, uplifter switches, and a huge moonroof. This trim level comes standard with the 6.7L Powerstroke engine. However, the Tremor Off-Road Package is not allowed to be configured with this model.
The 2022 Ford F-250 is a stunning truck. I have not seen a three-quarter-ton look so good straight out of the factory. These trucks are powerful enough to carry 15,000 pounds and look amazing doing it. There are 13 colors to choose from, but my personal favorite is the classic black and white.
It should be known that every trim level can add the FX4 package (as long as they don’t have the Tremor Off-Road Package as well), a snow prep package, a 12,000 lb winch, a bigger alternator, a toolbox, a bed step, bed liners, gooseneck hitch kit, tonneau covers, wheel locks, an engine block heater, and tons of other optional extras. In my opinion, the most essential is the $95 clearance lamps that go on top of the roof. It’s a very cheap upgrade considering the overall cost of the truck, and it looks amazing at night. As you can tell, the Ford F-250 is so customizable there is a truck out there for everyone. These are work-horse trucks that have found a way to incorporate luxury into the mix as well.
