Middle School A tennis team has even season

In the Middle

This spring season, KO’s middle school A tennis team has worked hard and improved a lot. The team completed a close season with a score of three wins and five losses. Throughout the season, the team feels like they have improved their skills greatly.

Star player eighth-grader Samit Virmani believes he has made positive strides. “The season has been going good, I’ve improved a lot and I’ve moved up definitely in terms of ranking in the middle school team, but what’s more important is that I’ve improved overall with my skill,” Virmani said.

Teammates eighth-grader Lola Peck, who has been playing on and off since she was eight, and Virmani who has been playing since last year, both have been active on the team all season. Peck and Virmani agree that the hardest part about being on the tennis team is the pressure that comes with participating in matches. “When we’re in matches, especially some of the pressure that’s being put on you by the coach and your friends, it’s not a challenge but it is definitely one of the hardest parts of being on the team,” Virmani said.

Peck favors tennis over the other spring sports options in the middle school. “It’s really cool how there are so many different ways to play tennis. Like you can lob or do a volley while playing,” Peck said.

Peck’s  favorite aspect of being on the A tennis team is that it benefits her tennis skills. “I am well aware that I’m not the best person there, but I’m able to learn from my peers,” she said.

KO’s middle school A tennis team has had its ups and downs this season, but has managed to keep a positive attitude and play their best.
