The KO boys A lacrosse team has had an exciting yet short season with a solid winning record of 2-0. Both games against Hamden Hall started in a close fight; however, both times, KO pulled away in the end.
The season was so short because there weren’t many middle school lacrosse teams left in the area. In addition, other games were scheduled but unfortunately canceled due to bad weather or teams not having enough players.
Head Coach David Hild regretted having such a short season. βI wish we had more games β¦ and I would like this group of players to be able to play more games than we have,β he said.
The season’s first game ended in a 12-7 victory over Hamden Hall. Coach Hild was very impressed with the team’s performance. βI think in our first game we did very well, we won easily. I think we were clearly a better group athletically and in terms of lacrosse skills compared to Hamden Hall,β he said.
Coach Hild has enjoyed that the team is full of leaders and growing players. βItβs really been a true team effort. our eighth graders have been really good kids in terms of being positive,β he said.
Seventh-grader Nicholas Seymour has been playing for a while now and loves the people he gets to play with. βI’ve been playing lacrosse for over five years and the friendships I’ve built are what bring me back to play lacrosse every year,β he said.
Eighth-grader Jordan Cipriano thinks the energy from the team plays a big role in how they perform. β[We have] a lot of high energy from everyone, we’re all excited to get out there and play. I think that the sixth graders give a little boost of energy. They’re always excited coming from lunch and they definitely make it a lot more fun,β he said.
Finishing the 2021-22 year season, the KO middle school boys A lacrosse team is proud of its undefeated record. Although the season was much shorter than they had originally hoped it would be, the boys cherished every moment together.
