Player of the Moment: Grant Daigle

Sports

Devoted to the team and passionate for the game, senior winger Grant Daigle has contributed stellar performances to the boys varsity soccer team this season.

This is Daigle’s second year at KO and his second year on the team; however, he is one of the leaders of the team, not just by his play but also by how he acts off the field. “Grant Daigle is one of our senior leaders,” Head Coach Hikmet Aslan said. “He always has a great attitude and is always going hard in games and in practices.”

Daigle’s hard work has translated into success in games and has even allowed him to earn the opportunity to play collegiate soccer at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Along with his commitment, he has led the Wyverns in scoring this season, having an impressive nine goals so far. Daigle put in two goals against Greens Farms Academy and a key goal against rival Westminster that allowed KO to come away with a 2-1 victory.

With the fall season winding down, Daigle has noted some goals he wants to accomplish before the season ends. “First, for me personally, I want to continue to score goals to contribute and help us win games,” Daigle said. “Along with that, it’s important that I continue to be a good teammate and also a leader. It’s important to be aware of my individual goals, but also aware of goals that will help the team accomplish our goals.”

Many of Daigle’s teammates look up to him and also expect a lot from him as a player. “Daigle  is always working hard,” sophomore goalie Sawyer Burtman said. “He is consistent and is a great leader and someone everyone on the team should look up to.” Daigle’s positive attitude and dedication to the sport of soccer allow him to succeed in every game that the Wyverns play.

As the season winds down, the Wyverns enter a difficult stretch of their season; however, Daigle is looking forward to embracing the challenge. “These next few games like Choate, Williston Northampton, and Avon Old Farms are big challenges for us,” Daigle said. “With the right attitude, I have no doubt we can win these games and make a push for the playoffs.”

As the boys varsity soccer team gets closer and closer to the end of their season, look for Daigle to play a major role in the team’s push for the playoffs. Do not be surprised if he is the one putting in clutch goals in the remaining games of the 2023 season.
