Senior Leo Zhang is always dressed to the nines, showing off his fashionable accessories and pieces, such as his jacket and jewelry.
As many of us can relate to, Leo chooses his outfits based on his mood for the day. “I wake up in the morning, figure out how I’m feeling, and put something on,” he said. In his closet, Leo has multiple pants and turtlenecks that he plays around with to create his daily outfit. “I’ll mix and match my shirts and pants to find my outfits and then finalize the outfit with my coat,” Leo shared. The colors that Leo typically wears are nude, black, and brown, following a primarily monotone style, yet he revealed that his favorite color is pink!
A staple piece in Leo’s wardrobe during the wintertime is his coat. “I stole it from my dad’s closet one day and have worn it ever since,” he said. In addition to this jacket, Leo has a few pieces of jewelry that he wears on rotation. “I have these two necklaces that are like feathers with traditional native designs made by Japanese handcraft men,” Leo said. He also shared that he prefers silver jewelry over gold.
In addition, Leo told me about a vintage store called “IF Soho New York” with a wide variety of expensive and vintage coats. “I’ve been saving money so that one day I can go and pick out one of their designer coats,” he said. When he was in Hong Kong, Leo found one of his favorite activities to be shopping, yet ever since coming to the States, the stores haven’t had the same appeal as they used to.
One thing that Leo wants to update in his wardrobe is his shoes. “Lucas Kollen keeps telling me that I need to find shoes that match the same level and style of my clothing, rather than just my usual red sneakers,” he shared, laughing.
One piece of advice that Leo has for everyone when choosing their outfits and wardrobe is to not be afraid to try new things, and allow your wardrobe to change with your own personal growth. “There’s different styles that work for everyone,” he said, “and not just one style will work all the time.”
