KO Hosts Annual Open House

News

On Sunday, Nov. 3, KO held its annual open house, welcoming prospective students and their families to campus to learn all about KO. The Middle School program took place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Upper School program occurred from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During the Middle School program, prospective students and their families were given a chance to walk through the halls of Estes and get a gauge of day-to-day life in the Middle School.

Visiting students were able to attend up to three mock classes, while the parents were filled in about the KO experience during different information sessions.

To kick off the Upper School program, a student-led panel in Roberts Theater informed prospective students and their families about what KO is truly like. Following the panel, a majority of the Upper School faculty and staff were spread out across campus to help field questions and demonstrate the many different ways students interact with one another and the KO curriculum.

In Alumni Hall, members of the English department touched on course selection and KO’s very own Symposium class as well as student publications. When strolling through Chase Tallwood, one could hear from both the science department and Wellness Team. Tables were spread out all across the Field House that highlighted many of the extracurricular activities and resources across campus, such as sports, clubs, and college counseling.

Many students from Shield and Dragon volunteered their time to help out the many faculty and staff allowing the event to run efficiently. “Throughout the day, my role was to guide students and families around campus to the many different activities,” junior Jordan Cipriano said. “Events like this are vital in helping students leave no stone unturned when applying for school.”

The student-led forum proved to be a show-stopper, setting the tone for the day. “The school did a fantastic job organizing different activities for prospective students to catch a glimpse of everyday life,” senior Daniela Tippner said. “The student-led panels engaged the prospective students and parents in a very beneficial way.”

Annually, the admissions team hosts a number of events to help spark interest to students looking to apply, and as application deadlines approach with the new year, the continued success of the Open House proves to be a testament to the admissions team and the Shield and Dragon student ambassadors. From the KO News staff, thank you to all who helped host this event!
