KO students will be let out of school and into the sun in less than two months. Many of those in the Middle School are excited and eager to no longer have to labor over homework and the stresses of extracurriculars and instead have the opportunity to relax and take some time off.
“I can’t wait to swim and go on vacation,” eighth-grader Kiran Sekaran said. “I like not having to worry about schoolwork.” Kiran also noted that some things will be different from previous summers. “When there was no pandemic, my family would travel a lot, but now it’s much harder,” he said.
While most students would agree that coming back to school is the hardest part of summer break, history teacher Peter Burdge disagreed and rather plans to spend his summer continuing his educational pursuits. “I am taking some online courses to prepare for the next school year,” he said. “By August, I am ready and excited to come back.”
Seventh-grader Jordan Cipriano has a very scheduled summer ahead of him. “I’m going to summer camp for seven weeks and then I’m going to Montauk,” he said. “Montauk is such a fun place to relax and have loads of fun.”
With summer officially being only a month away, students and teachers alike express their excitement for upcoming break. While some will continue to work, others will take the time to relax and have fun. Summer of 2021 is looking up.
