Senior Alyssa Tousignant has been an Associate Editor for the Sports and News departments, leaving her mark on KO and the KO News staff.
When reflecting on her favorite part of being on the KO News, she explained how she liked to feel involved and make new connections. “ I like reaching out to different people and getting to interview different teachers about different things,” Alyssa said. “It’s a good way to stay informed in the community. I’ve also made different friends [on the KO News, it’s a] good way to meet other people from different grades.”
Alyssa reflected on a recent article that she really enjoyed writing. “ The Spanish class took a field trip to see different murals [in] Hartford,” she recalled. “I think that was cool because I got to learn a little bit about the murals, and that was interesting.”
Over her time on the KO News staff, Alyssa has learned how to do things like sending emails requesting interviews well ahead of time. She has picked up on interview skills as well as learning a different kind of writing, one that has improved her writing skills as a whole.
When asked if she has any advice to give to people who might want to join the KO News, she mentions the importance of time management. “I would say definitely join,” she said. “I think it’s a lot of fun, and there’s kind of a position for everyone. Also just have fun with it [and] try to be engaged with what you’re writing about.”
We wish Alyssa all the best as she continues her love of writing and connecting with others as a communications major at Syracuse University. We will miss you, Alyssa!
