Senior Farewell: Rin Sterling

Features

The KO News bids farewell to co-Head Web Editor and senior Rin Sterling. Rin rose through the ranks of the online team in her two years at the paper, beginning as an associate web editor.

As a member of the KO News’ online team, Rin was responsible for working with other departments to manage the process of uploading content to the paper’s website. Rin was motivated to apply for a position after realizing the KO News was an opportunity to utilize her experience in audio and video editing. Rin’s other responsibilities included working to train new members, and, when she was in a managerial position, delegating assignments and the uploading of articles to other members of the web team.

“In general, the skills that I have improved or gained from completing my assignment  – time management, organizational skills, and teamwork – made the experience of contributing to the KO News particularly enjoyable and personally rewarding,” Rin said.

Rin emphasizes the importance of communication when working at a newspaper, both from leadership positions and from writers, and advises prospective KO News members to establish and maintain strong connections with others at the paper. “It may not always be easy,” Rin said, “but we can learn from the experiences of others. Anyone can share the knowledge they have, no matter if you are a photographer, a writer, or a manager.”

The KO News wishes Rin the best of luck in all of her future endeavors, and we will certainly miss her next year!
