As commencement is quickly approaching, we have to say goodbye to Associate Features and Sports Editor senior Miya Scranton.
Taking journalism her first semester junior year, Miya was enthusiastic to join the KO News due to her newfound love for interviewing and writing. Connecting with different people on campus was one of Miya’s favorite parts about writing for the KO News. She loves interviewing all people around campus and getting to know them. “ being able to interview them and actually sit down with them and talk to them,” she said. “ Then the next couple of weeks when I pass them in the hall, I can say hi to them.”
Being mainly sports-focused, Miya also found herself enjoying meeting the different KO coaches. “I think that it has been really cool getting to know the different coaches,” she said, “especially because a lot of our coaches are off-campus.”
Outside of sports Miya has written a few opinion pieces, including one for the journalism elective. This article, written about animal testing by companies, is still her favorite that stands out. “I did a lot of interesting research, and I learned a lot more than I thought,” she said. “I found so much more out. So I think that was definitely one of my favorite pieces, and I loved writing it.”
We are going to miss Miya next year and can not wait to see what she does next!
