KO says Goodbye to Head of Opinions Max Huang

Features

Senior Max Huang has been a part of the KO News since his sophomore year, writing as an Associate Editor for Opinions and then becoming Head of Opinions after switching from Head of Reviews. Max has been a great member of the KO News, and we are so grateful for all he has done!

Max was drawn to the KO News as an outlet to express his opinions. “I really liked writing about my own opinions,” he said.  “I liked doing debates and expressing my views on things. I thought the Opinions and Reviews department gave me that opportunity to explore what I want to write about and present it to an audience.”

His favorite article he wrote during his time on the KO News was an opinion piece on book bannings. “I thought that one was really fun because I got to do a little bit of outside research on my own, and talk about my own opinions,” he said.

Max says the KO News has taught him to be more responsible and given him important writing skills. What Max finds most meaningful about the KO News is the sense of community we have. “I really like how family-like it is,” he said. “Ms. Schieffelin puts a lot of time and effort into making sure that the paper is running really smoothly.”

We are going to miss Max next year and wish him luck at UCLA, where he plans on studying political science and getting involved with the student newspaper!
