Senior Goodbye Profiles: Sru Tokala

Features

Senior Sruthan Tokala has been an essential part of the KO News as an Associate Sports Editor, while also taking on the role of writing news articles.

While writing first started out as a hobby, Sru said he joined the KO News his sophomore year in hopes of finding an environment where he could have the freedom and opportunity to write about anything that inspired him while also being part of a community that welcomed his ideas. As he prepares to graduate, he said he will look back on his time as a news writer fondly.

When asked about his favorite article he’s written, Sru mentioned one from the beginning of his junior year. “[Getting to interview] the esports team… was fun,” he said. Just like with this article, Sru said his favorite part of writing any article really was the interview process and getting to talk to different people in the school community.

As he departs, Sru said some inspiring words for the underclassmen, as he was once in their shoes. “Don’t be afraid to try new things,” he said. “If you want to write something new or take on a new position, don’t be afraid to try it out.”

Sru said he had developed a love for writing during his time with the KO News, and he hopes to continue it in college, whether that be with his college’s school newspaper or even a small job opportunity.

Although the KO News is sad to see Sru leave, we can’t wait to see what he will accomplish in the years to come!
